Outwood Academy Foxhills hosts an interior design workshop with Nolan Interiors

At Outwood Academy Foxhills, prides themselves on providing students with unique opportunities to explore their interests and develop new skills. Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting an inspiring interior design workshop in collaboration with Outwood Academy Foxhills, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary.

The workshop: preparation and organisation

‘The workshop was meticulously planned and organised, ensuring a seamless experience for everyone involved. From the initial emails detailing the event to the final preparations the day before, every aspect was handled with exceptional care and attention to detail. The range of materials provided was impressive, including flooring, fabrics, colors, and books, creating an immersive environment for the students to engage with’.

Structure and goals: the perfect balance

The workshop was well structured, spanning a three-hour session that balanced creative freedom and structured learning. During the first two hours, students worked in teams to design and create, exploring their artistic potential without the pressure of right or wrong answers. The final hour featured a Dragon’s Den-style presentation, pushing students out of their comfort zones and encouraging them to articulate their ideas confidently.

The objectives of the workshop were clearly defined from the outset, and students were well aware of what they needed to achieve. Remarkably, not only did they meet these objectives, but many also surpassed their own expectations.

Student response: a newfound interest in interior design

The response from the Outwood Academy Foxhill students was overwhelmingly positive. Many had heard of interior design as a career but had little understanding of what it entailed. This workshop provided them with a hands-on experience that sparked newfound interest and enthusiasm. Conversations post-workshop revealed that several students are now considering careers in interior design, a field they hadn’t previously contemplated.

The skills and confidence gained from this workshop will undoubtedly benefit the Foxhill’s students in their future school work and projects.

‘They were inspired to step outside their usual styles and experiment with new ideas, fostering a broader creative outlook. The supportive and pressure-free environment allowed them to explore and express their creativity, which will be invaluable in their future endeavor’s.

Professional impressions and memorable moments

‘As an art teacher, I was genuinely impressed by the professionalism and resourcefulness of Nolan Interiors. Their team was exceptionally kind, helpful, and accommodating, creating an atmosphere where no question was too trivial, and every student felt valued.

One of the most memorable moments for me was witnessing the students shine during their presentations. Their hard work and creativity came to life as they animatedly explained their choices and designs. The progress they made from the start to the end of the session was a testament to their dedication and the workshop’s effectiveness.

Adaptability: suitable for all age groups

One of the standout features of this workshop is its adaptability. It can be tailored to suit different age groups and educational settings, whether in schools, colleges, or further education institutions. The flexible format allows for customisation in terms of duration and focus, ensuring it meets the specific needs of each group.
