East Coast Construction, recently created a breakout space within their Brandesburton offices. The goal was to provide employees with a place to connect, unwind, and step away from their desks during lunchtime – promoting a positive workplace culture.

the challenge

Initial problem –

East Coast Construction had the shell of the space but weren’t entirely sure how to make the most out of it. They wanted a versatile environment that could cater to various needs but were unsure of the furniture solutions that would best achieve this.

Discovery and approach –

Through collaboration, space planning and visualisations, Nolan Interiors worked closely with the client to create a space that not only functioned seamlessly but also gave them the aesthetic they desired.

the solution

Nolan Interiors designed a multifunctional space in a small environment that serves three key purposes:

A solo breakout area – featuring soft lounge seating for individual relaxation and solo work.
A dining space – providing a comfortable area for staff to enjoy their lunch.
A collaborative zone – incorporating a meeting pod and sustainably sourced furniture for team discussions and collaboration.

From initial space planning to installation, the entire project took five weeks.

Design phase – one week
Furniture lead time – four weeks

Nolan Interiors provided a full design package, including 2D space planning with three layout options. Once the client selected their preferred design, Nolan Interiors created visuals, alongside a mood board with the proposed finishes to bring the concept to life.

the outcome

East Coast Construction now has a breakout space that allows employees to step away from their work, recharge, and connect with colleges. The team has embraces the space’s flexibility that it now allows. The team at East Coast Construction feel as they were a part of the journey, and it truly feels that the environment is their own.
